PAMED Honors Deans of The Commonwealth Medical College
Robert M. D’ Alessandri, MD, and Gerald P. Tracy, MD, both from The Commonwealth Medical College (TCMC), were recently awarded the Presidential Citation Award by Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) President James A. Goodyear, MD. Both recipients were acknowledged for their outstanding contribution to the concept and development of TCMC, Pennsylvania’s first new allopathic medical school in more than 40 years.
More than 300 physicians from across Pennsylvania gathered at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey on Oct. 23 and 24, 2010, for the annual event and award ceremony.
The prestigious Presidential Citation Award is awarded to recognize physicians for their lifelong commitment to excellence in medicine, medical education, and patient care in improving the quality of medical care to all residents of Pennsylvania.
Dr. D’ Alessandri serves as the chief executive officer and the chief academic officer of TCMC and is responsible for setting priorities, institutional direction, and management of the college. Dr. Tracy, one of the original visionaries behind the concept and development of TCMC, is TCMC associate dean of regional campus development. He is responsible for overseeing the medical education curriculum and clinical experiences for medical students in the Scranton Regional Campus.
