Membership Eligibility and Benefits
Membership in the state Alliance is composed of regular and associate members.
Regular Member
A regular member is:
- The spouse of a physician member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society with voting privileges; or
- A physician who is a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society; or
- The spouse of a student (enrolled in an approved medical school) or resident (in an approved training program) who is a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society with voting privileges; or
- A widow or widower of a physician member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society with voting privileges, provided that person has not remarried outside the profession; or
- A member who is 65 years or older and is the spouse of a retired or permanently disabled physician member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society who held voting privileges at the time of retirement or disability.

Associate member
An associate member is:
- The spouse of a physician who qualifies or qualified but is not or was not a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society; or
- A widow or widower who remarries outside the profession; or
- A divorced physician's spouse who held membership in the Pennsylvania Medical Society Alliance at the time of the divorce; or
- Family members of physicians who are interested in supporting the objectives of the Alliance; or
- The spouse of a student (enrolled in an approved medical school) or resident (in an approved training program) who qualifies but is not a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society; or
- A county medical society executive who may or may not be a physician.

Rights and privileges
All members shall:
- Be represented in the House of Delegates as provided in ARTICLE VII, Section 2., D of the Pennsylvania Medical Society Alliance Bylaws
- Receive official publications
- Be eligible to attend meetings unless otherwise restricted
- Be eligible to testify at Reference Committee Hearings
Regular members shall be eligible to:
- Hold office
- Serve as a committee member and as a committee chair
- Vote in the House of Delegates
Associate members shall be ineligible to:
- Hold office
- Serve as a committee member and as a committee chair
- Vote in the House of Delegates
Lifetime members shall be eligible to:
- Hold office
- Serve as a committee member and as a committee chair
- Vote in the House of Delegates
