Objectives
After reading this issue, the clinician should be able to:

Identify the scope of the problem regarding tobacco use and its effect on adults with Type 2 diabetes.

Cite the prevalence of tobacco use and diabetes complications among significant populations in Pennsylvania.

Identify the clinical complications experienced by patients with diabetes who use tobacco and include possible cessation interventions in their treatment.

Employ the Ask, Advise, and Refer principles of the PA cAARds Initiative Program.

Utilize resources available to assist individuals who wish to quit using tobacco products.
