Physicians Can Earn CME Through Video on Episodes of Care

Physicians can learn how health insurers use episode of treatment groupers (ETG) to rate physicians on cost of care measures through a free video from the Physician Advocacy Institute (PAI) called "Understanding Episodes of Care."

Visit the North Carolina Medical Society’s website to access the video. Physicians who watch the video and complete the accompanying workbook are eligible to earn 3.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

The video is based on PAI’s June 2007 workshop, which brought together national experts who described how ETGs are derived. The workshop also covered what physicians need to know in order to combat unfair and inaccurate ratings of physicians by health plans using ETGs.

After completing this course, physicians should be able to engage health plans in meaningful dialogue about quality of care decisions and about physicians’ advocacy on behalf of their patients.
