Free Audio Conference Focused on Medicare Recovery Audits

An audio conference on Medicare recovery audits was held from noon to 2 PM on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009.

Medicare Recovery Audit Contractors (RAC) audits will start soon in Pennsylvania. Your Medicare claims will be run through a complex system, and you may be asked to pay back money. You can’t stop RAC audits but you can understand them and how they’ll impact you. 

The audio conference, “Recovery Audits: How They Work and How They Will Affect You,” addressed:

  • The role of the RAC
  • The RAC review and collection process
  • Your options as providers when interacting with the RAC
  • What you can do in preparation for the RAC
The call was hosted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). 

An archive of a previous call on RAC audits—held Aug. 26, 2009—also is available (length: one hour and six minutes, MP3 format). This is an edited version that removes segments that were impacted by technical difficulties experienced during the live conference.
