Aetna will now require preauthorization for non-emergent stress echocardiograms and diagnostic left and right heart catheterization.
The change applies to patients 18 years and older. Authorization will not be required for hospital inpatients or patients in hospital emergency departments.
For preauthorization, visit the MedSolutions website, call (888) 693-3211, or fax (888)693-3210. Preauthorization decisions will be made within two business days for standard requests and within four hours for urgent requests.
