Medicaid Now Allows ePrescribing

Providers enrolled in Medicaid fee-for-service can now ePrescribe, the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW) has announced.

Physicians, certified registered nurse practitioners, optometrists, dentists, podiatrists and certified nurse midwives will be able to ePrescribe using either electronic medical record (EMR) software or standalone point-of-care (POC) ePrescribing software.

The EMR or standalone POC ePrescribing software must be certified by Surescripts.  Providers can determine if their software is certified by visiting the Surescripts website.
