DCMS Public Health Committee Works for Community Health
The Delaware County Medical Society’s public health committee is hard at work on issues that affect the health and wellbeing of the community. Here’s a snapshot:
- The Delaware County Immunization Coalition’s successful drive-through flu immunization program on Nov. 15, 2007
- The work of the Delaware County Suicide Prevention and Awareness Task Force, which will be sponsoring a walk/run on Saturday, May, 3, 2008, at Ridley Creek State Park in Edgemont
- A project to educate physicians on office-based detoxification medicines for patients with opioid dependence
- The Insuring Delaware County’s Children Now Task Force, which enrolled 130 children in January, bringing the number of children in Delaware County enrolled in the state Children’s Health Insurance Program to 7,836
- Relaunch of the Domestic Violence Health Care Advocacy Coalition of Delaware County
- The plans of the Delaware County Healthy Living Coalition, which includes childhood obesity prevention programs
