(Philadelphia, PA) Physician members of the Pennsylvania Medical Society will answer questions and discuss medical concerns with local residents anonymously and free of charge on Tuesday, September 20, as part of the state society’s public service program “Docs on Call.” The program will air on CBS-3 from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm that evening.

Since it was started several years ago, “Docs on Call” has drawn on hundreds of physicians across Pennsylvania who donate their services to help make a difference in the communities where they live and practice. Locally, member physicians will answer health-related questions and will offer information on free- and low-cost health clinics to those without medical insurance or without access to personal physicians. While the doctors will provide guidance to callers, the phone sessions are not meant to replace office visits. Physicians answering the phones will not diagnose conditions or prescribe specific treatments.

“Docs on Call” gives us another way to help patients who otherwise might avoid or have no access to a physician,” says Ralph Schmeltz, MD, FACP, FACE, president of the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

“It is a tremendously rewarding program for us and gives our members yet another way to reach out to patients, in the name of better health.”

Local physicians volunteering for “Docs on Call” include:

Bucks County Medical Society: Robert Danoff, DO, Family Medicine

Delaware County Medical Society: Joyann Kroser, MD, Gastroenterology

Montgomery County Society: Robert Bailey, Jr., MD, Ophthalmology; Allen Ho, MD, Ophthalmology; Kimberly Jones, MD, Psychiatry; Mark Pyfer, MD, Ophthalmology

Philadelphia County Medical Society: Judith Adams, MD, Internal Medicine; Benjamin Braslow, MD, General Surgery; Glenn Cooper, MD, Cardiology; Michael DellaVecchia, MD, Ophthalmology; Richard Kaplan, MD, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation; Maureen Kelly, MD, Fertility; Lynn Lucas-Fehm, MD, Radiology; Alex Levin, MD, MHSc, Pediatric Ophthalmology; Kurt Miceli, MD, Psychiatry; Curtis Miyamoto, MD, Radiology/Oncology; Carl Norden, MD, Infectious Disease; Kevin Robinson, MD, Cardiology; Lawrence Robinson, MD, Public Health and General Preventive Medicine; Carol Shields, MD, Ophthalmology; George Spaeth, MD, Ophthalmology; Suzanne Steele, MD, Family Medicine; Susan Taylor, MD, Dermatology.

This sounds like a great idea. I would like to learn more. I am a child adolescent psychiatrist, also adult. Suboxone certified. Have an office in pa and nj. I am contracted with most insurances even for suboxone. Though unable to get one with cbh. Also have an excellent LPC working with me. I could use some assistance with practice management, individual case revkews and contract negotiations. Currently working on hospital privileges for continuity of care. Coverage is an issue especially.in NJ. Heidi Vidal, MD
