(Harrisburg, Pa.) Learning how to tie a surgeon’s knot will bring together students from Lower Dauphin and Hershey high schools along with first- and second-year medical students at the Penn State University College of Medicine as part of a mentoring project to encourage students to pursue the practice of medicine.
The event is part of the Skills Night Series, sponsored by the Institute for Good Medicine at the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and is scheduled for Monday, April 21 at 6 p.m. in Lecture Room B of the Biomedical Research Building at Penn State University College of Medicine.
Dr. Peter Lund, founder of the Institute for Good Medicine and current president of the Pennsylvania Medical Society, will lead the event. Dr. Lund is a practicing urologist from Erie, Pa.
The Institute for Good Medicine at the Pennsylvania Medical Society started these events to mentor students and encourage them to become physicians.
Earlier this year, Dr. Lund held a similar Skills Night event at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Events are also planned at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the Jefferson Medical College.
